
A suspect has been arrested following a robbery in Northeast Washington, D.C., where a woman's cellphone was forcibly taken. The incident occurred yesterday morning in the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue, with the victim reporting that the perpetrator had approached from behind and snatched her device before fleeing, according to a press release by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Following the robbery, officers from the Fifth District disseminated a description of the suspect among patrol officers who were searching for him, subsequently, the suspect was apprehended in the vicinity of the crime, as reported by Metropolitan Police Department.
In the investigation that ensued, detectives identified 19-year-old Christian Pickney from Northeast as the alleged offender. He has been charged with robbery in connection to the incident on Rhode Island Avenue.
The Police Department has not yet released additional information on the circumstances leading to Pickney's identification and arrest, however, the charge points towards a link that the investigators found credible enough to move ahead with formal accusations.
