A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to carjack a woman at gunpoint near Greater Cincinnati’s Edgewood High School. According to Local12, Butler County Sheriff's Office reports that the incident occurred on Monday at about 7:10 a.m. when Steven Sizemore allegedly pointed a firearm at a car, commanding the driver to stop and get out on Riverside Drive near Morganthaler.

The attempt was aborted when a woman accompanying Sizemore refused to enter the car with him, leading to the victim seizing the opportunity to drive away. This incident appears to be an anomaly for the area, as Trenton Police Sgt. Craig Flick mentioned, "We really don’t have that kind of nonsense around here," in a statement reported by FOX19. Sgt. Flick added that they are thankful the situation “didn’t really involve anything to do with the high school.”

The victim, identified by FOX19 as Amanda Smith, a 30-year-old Hamilton resident, gave a harrowing account of the event. "He had the gun pointed right at me through the windshield. He walked up closer to the hood of my car and shouted, 'Get out of the f---ing car!'" recounted Smith. The suspect was arrested shortly after Smith placed a distress call to the authorities around 7:15 a.m.

Sizemore was arrested and charged quickly after the incident, as WHIO confirms that deputies responded to the scene promptly following the reports of the attempted hijacking. While the events leading up to the arrest remain unclear, the alleged perpetrator is currently being held, heightening questions about the circumstances and the individual's motives for such an attempted theft.
