A man arrested for aggravated robbery in Houston has been identified as 37-year-old Juan Vasquez. As reported by the Houston Police Robbery Division, Vasquez is facing charges for an incident that unfolded on the evening of Wednesday, June 26, when he and an unidentified male allegedly targeted a mechanic shop at the 4300 block of E. Crosstimbers.
According to the authorities, the accused approached a truck in the shop's parking lot as an employee questioned their actions. In a threatening display, one of the males brandished a handgun and rummaged through the employee's pockets. Their brazen escape was then carried out in the customer’s truck, which was later found abandoned at a roadway on the 7800 block of Duncan.
The link to Vasquez was established when he was captured on convenience store surveillance after the truck was left unoccupied. A photo of the suspect was circulated on social media platforms by the Houston Police Robbery Division on August 12. Following a tip from the public, officers with the Northeast Patrol Investigative Squad identified and charged Vasquez on Thursday, August 15, as indicated in reports.
Furthermore, the press release notes that this is not Vasquez's first brush with the law; he was already in custody for a separate burglary of a habitation charge as of July 27. The current charges levied against him include aggravated robbery in the 488th State District Court, confirming Vasquez's ongoing entanglement with the judicial system.
