A 73-year-old man lost his life in a moped accident in the McCully area of Oahu, according to reports released on Monday. KITV confirmed that the crash occurred in the early afternoon at the intersection of South King Street and Elsie Lane.

The Honolulu Police Department indicated that the accident happened around 1:45 p.m. when the victim, traveling east in a bicycle lane, lost control and slid onto the roadway. Unfortunately, he was not wearing a helmet at the time, which may have contributed to the fatal outcome. This incident has brought the total number of traffic-related deaths on Oahu to 27 for the year, a decrease compared to the 36 fatalities recorded at the same point last year, as reported by the Star Advertiser.

The Emergency Medical Services swiftly responded to the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital in serious condition. Later, as the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 12:01 a.m. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
