Residents in the vicinity of the 10700 block of West River Road can breathe a little easier tonight, as the two husky mix dogs that sparked a public safety concern have been found and contained. These animals, identified as "Anika" and "Sequoia", were involved in a series of aggressive incidents yesterday afternoon, including attacks on local pets and a homeowner. According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department Alert, the dogs were last seen charging toward officers who responded to the scene, with one officer discharging a firearm to ward them off. Following the altercation, the dogs fled the scene and remained at large until today.
The search for the dogs was a concerted effort involving multiple sightings and calls from concerned citizens. These dogs, 1.5-year-old husky/wolf mixes, were not only a potential threat to the public but also to the natural balance of local wildlife due to their aggressive nature. The police issued a warning, as detailed by the Brooklyn Park Police Department, cautioning residents not to approach the animals and to report any sightings through the 911 system. The persistent alerts helped ensure that the community was aware and vigilant during the search for Anika, a red/brown/black canine, and Sequoia, a gray/brown/white one.
