Breaking the mold of governmental transitions, Allegheny County has a new fiscal captain steering the ship—Tim Cox, today announced by County Executive Sara Innamorato as the latest Director of the Department of Budget and Finance, as detailed in an official release from the Allegheny County's newsroom.
Cox, who bears the standard of extensive experience in the realm of government finance, is no stranger to public service at the federal level and within Allegheny County's fiscal mechanisms, his career had begun as a Budget Analyst for the U.S. Department of State before he found his way back to his Pittsburgh roots. Since 2014, he's been instrumental within the County's Budget and Finance realm, successfully managing budget software implementations, overseeing bond issuances, and spearheading presentations for rating agencies.
In a statement obtained by Allegheny County's newsroom, Cox acknowledged the weight of his new role and the collective effort that got him there, stating, "I would like to thank County Executive Innamorato for trusting me to deliver on the goals outlined in the All In Allegheny Action Plan and for trusting me to continue to be a responsible steward of taxpayer resources," and that he is, "truly proud of everything we have accomplished thus far and am excited for what lies ahead."
Emphasizing his commitment, Innamorato praises Tim Cox as a paragon of fiscal responsibility and government finance efficiency—it's a sentiment echoed by those aware of Cox's tenure and commitment to the fiscal health of Allegheny County. Additionally, Cox is serving a dual role of influence as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for the Westminster Early Childhood Education Program, which operates a Nursery School, Kindergarten, and Child Development Center.
