Anoka County is paving the way for infrastructure upgrades throughout the region, with contracts recently awarded for projects ranging from roadway improvements to expansions in water and sewer services. In a series of decisions, the County Board laid out plans meant to address both the present demands and future growth aspirations of the community.
According to Anoka County, Ham Lake's Lexington Avenue is set to receive a substantial facelift, aimed at appeasing both the thriving populous and the relentless wear of time. Its thoroughfare, stretching from Bunker Lake Boulevard to Crosstown Boulevard, and another segment from Broadway Avenue to 190th Lane, will be broadened with an array of enhancements such as paved shoulders, improved drainage, and dedicated turn lanes. With Kimley-Horn on board for design, come 2027, when shovels breach earth, these improvements promise a safer, more fluid transit experience.
At the same time, the cities of Lino Lakes and Shoreview are preparing for a roundabout at the intersection of Hodgson Road and County Road J/Ash Street, a measure which, by drawing circles, aims to straighten out traffic mishaps and congestion, as per Anoka County. TKDA has been contracted to oversee the construction inspection services for this transformation, which is set to introduce a geometric harmony to the otherwise frenetic junctions.
Over in Coon Rapids, the narrative of transportation is being rewritten with the refurbishment of a deteriorating railway crossing on Northdale Boulevard. With the full weight of BNSF Railway Company behind the rail-related components, and Anoka County shouldering the remnant roadway and pedestrian infrastructure responsibilities, the vicinity of Sand Creek Park will soon reclaim its former smoothness and reliability.
