An Apple Valley man was apprehended thanks to the sharp eyes of Target employees when they suspected him of using counterfeit currency. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies were called out to the local Target store located at 20288 State Highway 18 in Apple Valley around 12:25 pm on Saturday, August 3, as reported by the Apple Valley Police Department. Employees had identified individuals using what they believed to be false bills—a claim that would soon prove to have merit.
In responding to the call, Deputies B. Clancy and A. Sanders arrived to quite swiftly locate and detain the subjects in question. Their investigation promptly led to the arrest of 19-year-old Amari Santana Guy of Apple Valley. According to the Apple Valley Police Department, "Guy was arrested for possession of counterfeit bills and was transported to High Desert Detention Center, where he was booked in." Following his arrest, Guy posted bail and was released to appear in court at a later date.
