
Early this morning, a man was shot and killed by agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) during an operation in San Antonio. The incident transpired at the Merida Apartment Homes situated off Northeast Loop 410 near Starcrest Drive, around 6 a.m. as per reports from both FOX San Antonio and KENS 5.
An ATF spokesperson detailed that the agents were executing a court-authorized "knock and announce" federal arrest warrant when the man, who has not yet been named, "was shot and killed by an ATF agent after the suspect pointed a firearm at the search team," according to the statement obtained by FOX San Antonio. The agents were purportedly facing a threat when the suspect brandished a weapon, leading one of the agents to use lethal force.
The case is currently under a joint investigation by the San Antonio Police Department and local authorities in Texas. Details surrounding the warrant and the specifics of the altercation remain limited as officials continue their inquiry into the events that culminated in the fatal shooting.
