Life in prison is the sentence for Hector Marroquin-Galdamez, a 41-year-old member of the 18th Street gang, following a conviction for the 2021 murder of Orlando Carranza-Portillo, according to Fox Baltimore. The verdict reached in May found Marroquin-Galdamez guilty of first-degree murder after the incident in a Baltimore County bar, where the victim allegedly signaled an affiliation with the rival MS-13 gang.
The confrontation turned deadly when Marroquin-Galdamez and others followed Carranza-Portillo out of the bar, abducting him from the parking lot and subsequently robbing, stabbing, and shooting him multiple times near Hammonds Ferry Road north of the Patapsco River, as detailed by the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s office. Marroquin-Galdamez, whose arrest and indictment occurred in August 2021, now faces life without the possibility of parole and an additional consecutive 20-year sentence, according to WMAR-2 News.
Moreover, the victim was stripped of his cell phone, shoes, and necklace prior to his murder, an act which adds a layer of indignity to the already heinous act of violence.
