
Authorities in Baltimore have moved to bring some degree of closure to the brutal homicide case that shook the Southern District community this past June. The person taken into custody is Gregory Barnes, a 48-year-old man, now facing charges in the shooting death of 39-year-old Dennis Edmonds. In a statement released by the Baltimore Police, Barnes was arrested on August 22 and has since been transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility on counts of first-degree murder.

In reference to the homicide that occurred in the Southern District on June 14, 2024, investigators have arrested 48-year-old Gregory Barnes.

Details emerging from the investigation revealed that officers had found Edmonds' body back in June, in the 4300 block of West Bay Avenue after receiving reports of an unresponsive individual. The case took a definitive turn when the Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death to be a homicide, specifically by shooting.
