With Baltimore continuing to reel under the aftermath of a severe storm, Mayor Brandon M. Scott has put out an update on the city's ongoing management efforts. According to a statement on the city's official website, the Baltimore City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is actively handling the situation, doing everything from clearing debris to restoring power across affected neighborhoods.

As the city grapples with power outages and property damage, the Health Department has decided to quickly extend the Code Red Declaration through Monday. This extension ensures that cooling centers will continue to offer reprieve to residents, especially those still without power. Local news stations, social media, and the city's Office of Emergency Management webpage have been recommended for updated weather forecasts and traffic conditions.

Three additional sites have opened their doors to serve as charging stations and water distribution centers, focusing on the areas hardest hit by the storm. The centers located at C. C. Jackson Recreation Center, Rita Church Community Center, and Cahill Recreation Center will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. These sites are meant to help residents stay connected and hydrated while Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) works tirelessly to restore electricity.

City crews, supported by teams from Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, have been working around the clock to respond to hundreds of service requests including clearing over 200 downed trees and fixing more than 80 traffic light disruptions, according to the same press release. Traffic Enforcement Officers and Baltimore Police Department officers are being deployed to critical intersections to manage the situation as the city works to get all signals back up and running.

Reporting system outages remains a vital part of the city's response strategy. Residents are encouraged to report downed trees, traffic light outages, or any storm-related issues by calling 311 or using the 311 app.
