The Berkeley Police Department has reported the arrest of a suspect in connection with the city's second homicide of the year. On the 3rd of July, officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a victim who had succumbed to a gunshot wound. Over several weeks, detectives were able to identify the suspect, leading to the acquisition of a Ramey warrant for the arrest.

After persistent efforts to gather evidence, which also involved reviewing surveillance footage, the detectives and the Special Response Team (SRT) apprehended the suspect. Steve Addison was arrested on Wednesday in the northern part of Oakland. According to the Berkeley Police Department, he was taken into custody without incident and was booked into the Berkeley City Jail on a no-bail warrant for murder.

In relation to the case, the Berkeley Police Department has expressed appreciation for the support provided by both the Oakland Police Department and the US Marshall's Service. Their cooperation was instrumental in successfully locating and arresting Addison. The police further assured the community that with Addison's arrest, there appear to be no further suspects at large connected to the homicide.
