Beyoncé, known worldwide as a music star, has launched SirDavis, a premium whisky that honors her Texan roots and family history in moonshining. In partnership with Moët Hennessy and with the craftsmanship of master distiller Bill Lumsden, this whisky is a toast to both her great-grandfather Davis Hogue and Beyoncé's own palate, which favors the boldness of American rye with a smoothness drawn from Japanese whiskies' texture, as Houston Eater reports.
With a unique mash bill of 51 percent rye and 49 percent malted barley, SirDavis' blending process involves a primary maturation in American white oak casks, followed by finishing in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks in Texas, Beyoncé's stomping grounds the whiskey itself has garnished attention for its rich and deep flavor profile, securing accolades such as Best in Class for American Whiskey at the 2023 SIP Awards and a gold medal at the New York International Spirits Competition even before its official release, according to the Club Oenologique review.
Embodying Beyoncé's endeavor to create a product that's approachable yet distinctive, the whisky is presented in a ribbed glass bottle adorned with a bronze horse emblem, embodying both strength and respect, indicative of her Texas roots, the choice to spell 'whisky' without the 'e' positions SirDavis amongst more internationally recognized luxury spirits. "I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling," Beyoncé told Houston Eater, highlighting the emotional resonance that the spirit holds for her.
While definitely designed for sipping neat or on the rocks, this doesn't deter it from being versatile Beyoncé herself enjoys mixing SirDavis into her signature Honey Bee cocktail, aligning it with her own preference which also embraces the classic enjoyment of whiskies neat. "You can taste it better than I could ever tell you," Beyoncé states, a sentiment emphasizing the personalized touch she’s invested in SirDavis; available for $89.99 in the U.S. and at £79 in selected UK shops, the launch of SirDavis is not just another celebrity liquor endorsement – it's a homage to heritage, bottled, as per her intentions reported by Club Oenologique.
