Boston residents witnessed a sweet event on City Hall Plaza as BPD Commissioner Michael Cox alongside other local celebrities took part in the Salvation Army’s Moose Tracks 10,000 Scoop Challenge.
The challenge offered free scoops of Moose Tracks frozen yogurt and promised a $10,000 donation to the Salvation Army if the goal was met, according to the Boston Police Department's website. Despite the busy scene and August heat, volunteers and officials served the community with smiles, using each scoop to support the charity.
Commissioner Cox's involvement in the event underscored the BPD's ongoing community engagement efforts. "Thanks for inviting us to be part of this fun day and for all the great work the Salvation Army does for our community!" the commissioner declared in a statement published on the department's official site.
The proceeds from the challenge will support The Salvation Army Boston South End Corps and The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services, which help those in need, especially during emergencies. This collaboration shows how community and service can unite law enforcement and citizens, promoting unity and mutual support.
