
The Boston Police Department hosted the 5th Annual MAWLE & Me Camp, an event dedicated to inspiring the next generation of female leaders through a comprehensive exploration of law enforcement work. The camp provided a series of immersive experiences, from delving into crime scene investigations to engaging in self-defense training.
Campers joined forces with District B-2 officers and FBI agents to unravel the intricacies of crime scene sleuthing. They traipsed through the corridors of the BPD Operations Center and Crime Lab, acquiring knowledge typically veiled behind the uniform. According to a release by the Boston Police Department, the attendees also benefited from the wisdom of the force's Command Staff Members.
There were sessions on public speaking and media training from the BPD Media Relations Office. Attendees also met with various law enforcement and civic protection officials, visited the Boston Municipal Court, and heard from the State Police and the State Attorney General. The Boston Police Department thanked the Vanessa Marcotte Foundation and the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office for their support and self-defense training, which offered valuable skills to all participants.
The students had a chance to relax and socialize at Top Golf, A chance to unwind and socialize outside the structured learning environment. The BPPA demonstrated their support by hosting the campers at the Dorchester Union Hall.
