Residents of Morris Park and Wenonah can expect to see crews from CenterPoint Energy around their neighborhoods starting in late August this year. The energy company has announced plans to upgrade its natural gas infrastructure in these Minneapolis communities. In a declaration, their construction schedule and affected streets have been detailed, suggesting a completion timeline that spans a few months.
The work will involve the installation of a new natural gas main on 42nd Avenue S. between 54th Street E. and 55th Street E., with additional tasks including transitioning inside meters to the exterior of properties, and this, by appointment, as well as replacing or reconnecting service lines to the new main, as reported by CenterPoint Energy - Minnesota. Along a handful of other streets in the area, crews will primarily focus on moving inside meters outside, again by appointment and updating some service lines. These streets include 30th Avenue S., Nokomis Avenue S., 32nd Avenue S., and Boardman Street.
Equix Integrity has the responsibility of updating records to show the location of sewer lines concerning the natural gas lines. According to CenterPoint Energy - Minnesota, "The pipes used in these pipeline replacement and modernization projects are more resistant to corrosion and leakage, helping us continue to provide the safe, reliable service you count on that keeps you comfortable in your home."
