Chemical Leak at New Great Wolf Lodge in Webster Leads to Hospitalization of Workers During Grand OpeningSource: Google Street View

The grand opening of the Great Wolf Lodge in Webster was marred by a hazardous chemical incident that required multiple individuals to be hospitalized. According to FOX 26 News in Houston, a leak of hazardous materials occurred behind the family resort this morning, with several people needing medical attention.

As per the reports by KHOU News, the leak was the result of improperly mixed pool chemicals, which affected more than a dozen workers who were then taken to the hospital. While the affected construction workers, six of which were employed by the Maldonado Construction Company and included five men and one woman, all 13 people were later hospitalized following decontamination procedures.

The Webster Fire Department intervened to contain the situation, ensuring the leak remained isolated from the main resort and its indoor water park. In a statement obtained by FOX 26 News, Great Wolf Lodge affirmed, "The health and safety of our guests and pack members is always our priority, and we greatly appreciate the quick actions of first responders from the city of Webster in response to an incident at an external building outside of the main indoor water park and resort caused by an external vendor."

Great Wolf Lodge, which covers a sweeping 61,000 square feet with its Adventure Park, began its grand opening amidst expectations for a family-friendly getaway. The resort, flagged as the company's 22nd North American location, boasts a sprawling new $200 million facility complete with a 92,000-square-foot water park characterized by its all-new design and interactive storytelling elements. Emergency services, including Friendswood EMS and the League City Fire Department, responded promptly, dispatching multiple ambulances to the scene, though the specific conditions of those affected were not released as seen with news helicopters capturing the response.
