After being absent for a year, the Choco Taco is making a comeback in Philadelphia. The delicacy, a unique combination of ice cream, a taco-shaped waffle cone, and chocolate, has been absent since Klondike discontinued the product back in 2022. Philadelphia-based delivery service Gopuff, partnering with GlacierPoint, announces the limited reissue of the Choco Taco, available for order today starting at 11 a.m. in Philadelphia. According to a statement obtained by NBC Philadelphia, the comeback is a response to fans on social media who have been missing the treat.

This limited run provides an opportunity for customers to revisit their childhood memories, with the Choco Taco priced at $3.99 per piece on the Gopuff app. As reported by PHL17, Gopuff's "Nostalgia Week" is not only featuring the Choco Taco but is also offering discounts on various childhood treats like Push Pops and Dunkaroos. It's a strategic move by GoPuff to capitalize on the trend of retro products creating a buzz in the market.

The Choco Taco was originally invented by Philadelphia's own Alan Drazen while working for Jack & Jill Ice Cream company. The product saw huge success and was even sold in Taco Bell stores starting in 1989, as per PhillyVoice. Despite being taken off the menu in 2015 and eventually discontinued by Klondike, Philadelphia has not seen the end of the ice cream taco. GlacierPoint, having acquired Jack & Jill, retains the patent and facilitated this brief return.

The Choco Tacos being offered differ slightly from the original recipe, featuring chocolate sprinkles in lieu of nuts on their shell. Consumers are advised to act quickly, as the Choco Taco is in limited stock and may sell out by the end of the day. Nonetheless, those who miss out on today's offering can find solace at Philadelphia's Milk Jawn, which occasionally sells its own version of the ice cream taco.
