The Cincinnati Bengals are tapping into the emotional color wheel for their season opener, betting on orange to set the tone for a hopeful start. As pointed out by WCPO, in an unprecedented move, the team will don all-orange uniforms, including orange helmets, a combo that will take to the field on September 8 against the New England Patriots. The striking visual is part of the Bengals' strategy to establish a new tradition named "Open In Orange," which will have players and fans cloaked in vibrant tones to kick off the season at Paycor Stadium.
Not just content with a one-time display of color coordination, the Bengals are orchestrating a weeklong celebration ahead of the opener. Elizabeth Blackburn, the Bengals' Director of Strategy and Engagement, conveyed to WLWT the different community events culminating with the game. Aimed to captivate the fans' spirits, a line of "Open In Orange" t-shirts will be released, with proceeds supporting the Freestore Foodbank. WCPO reported that these commemorative items will be available for early birds at the Taste of the Bengals on August 28, rolling out for the masses at the Bengals Pro Shop starting September 1.
In a push for a full-fan experience, attendees have been encouraged to create an "Orange Out" at the stadium. "Orange is the color of energy, confidence and optimism, three key traits that we want starting our season," Blackburn told WDTN, emphasizing the significance of the hue for the Bengals' intentions heading into the new season. Audaciously colored seats across Paycor Stadium are being set up by fans who don orange, and tickets are still up for grabs at the Bengals' official website for those pushing to infuse some chromatic excitement into their Sunday football.
The Bengals' leap into thematic games goes well beyond a single game, as announced plans for future games have also unveiled stylized uniforms. Notably, the team will sport their "White Bengal" uniforms against the Philadelphia Eagles on October 27, an all-white ensemble echoed by the stadium's coordinated color theme. Shared by WLWT, the team is riding the wave of success from their past usage of the all-white look, which debuted in the 2022 season and has become a fan-favorite. Additionally, a game has been tagged as "Stripe the Jungle" against the Cleveland Browns, which involves an intricate fan participation element mandating colors based on seating positions within the jungle-like atmosphere of the jungle-like atmosphere of the stadium.
