Clearwater residents and commuters should prepare for a series of road closures affecting the city's traffic flow over the coming weeks and months. According to the recent update from the City of Clearwater, sewer repair work will shutter Lincoln Avenue between Pierce and Park streets from Aug. 20 through Aug. 27, with detour routes laid out via Betty Lane. Similarly, Kings Highway will remain closed between Byram Drive and Alpine Road until Aug. 23.
The eastbound lane of Magnolia Drive is currently closed due to bridge damages inflicted by Tropical Storm Debby. No detour has been established for this closure, the ending of which remains unknown pending repair completions. Addressing the damage from Hurricane Idalia, workers will be resurfacing the Courtney Campbell Trail between Courtney Campbell Beach and Ben T. Davis Beach, forcing closures and narrowed pathways over the next months.
The trajectory of U.S. 19 is undergoing a significant facelift by the Florida Department of Transportation. Stretching from Curlew Road south to State Road 580, this renovation includes new interchanges, a pedestrian underpass, and a bridge, aiming for a 2029 wrap-up. Details on the extensive project are available on the U.S. 19 Construction Webpage.
Adding to the city's infrastructure developments, Old Coachman Road faces a long-term closure until Fall 2026 for bridge replacement. Beginning in January, local traffic will be rerouted along U.S. 19 from Drew Street to Coachman Road, though access to residential areas and local attractions like BayCare Ballpark will be maintained.
