
In a late-night operation, the Coast Guard successfully evacuated a 26-year-old woman suffering from severe lower abdominal pain from aboard the cruise ship Navigator of the Seas, which was located roughly 30 miles from the coast of San Diego. The Coast Guard Sector San Diego watchstanders initially received the distress call at 12:10 a.m. on Thursday. They set off an urgent response to deliver the ailing passenger to medical assistance on land.
According to information relayed by the Coast Guard's official news release, an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station San Diego was promptly dispatched. The crew navigated under the veil of darkness to reach the vessel, where they executed a hoist operation to airlift the woman from the cruise ship.
After the successful extraction, the woman was transported directly to the Coast Guard Air Station San Diego. There, she was met by awaiting emergency medical services personnel who swiftly transferred her to Hillcrest Medical Center at the University of California, San Diego. At the health facility known for its capability to handle a variety of emergencies, the patient was reportedly last in stable condition.
