Earlier this month, a high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle ended with the help of a four-legged member of law enforcement. According to Constable Mark Herman's Office, on August 11, deputies were called to the 17400 block of Woodland Hills Drive for a reported stolen vehicle. The pursuit began when deputies located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver veered off, leading to a brief chase.
The pursuit came to an abrupt halt when the driver crashed into a residence near the 2000 block of Concord Drive. After the crash, the driver along with two other occupants, abandoned the vehicle and fled by foot. Despite the chaos, a perimeter was quickly established with the inclusion of Air Support. Charging through the brush, Constable Canine "Tejas Briones" played a pivotal role, tracking down and capturing the three juvenile suspects.
All three of the suspects, two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old, were arrested and taken to the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center. In a post on the Constable's official Facebook page, the authorities detailed the charges: "The juvenile male driver was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felony evading. The other two juvenile males were charged with evading arrest," as per Constable Mark Herman's Office post on Facebook.
