Chaos erupted at a South Philly Chickie's & Pete's on August 2, 2024, as five individuals were taken into custody following a large brawl, which included a convicted mobster and his spouse. According to FOX29, Philadelphia police were called to the scene at approximately 5:57 p.m. to the establishment situated on the 1500 block of Packer Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found two clashing groups, their altercation having evolved from what was supposed to be a familial gathering. As reported by NBC Philadelphia, the melee quickly escalated when 39-year-old Joseph Baldino, while being detained, allegedly struck a police sergeant repeatedly in the face and resisted arrest. Eventually subdued, Baldino received treatment for facial injuries before being charged with aggravated assault, among other offenses.
Further arrests include 68-year-old John Ciancaglini, a once-convicted mobster, alongside his wife, Kathy Ciancaglini, aged 62. Both were charged with disorderly conduct and criminal conspiracy, contributing to the fray that necessitated police intervention. Ciancaglini, having previously served nine years in federal prison on racketeering charges, once again faces legal scrutiny, embroiled in the South Philly pandemonium.
Completing the list of apprehended individuals are brothers Richard DiBella, 45, and Michael DiBella, 37, who turned themselves in following their involvement. As per 6ABC, the charges range from aggravated assault to disorderly conduct, highlighting the serious nature of the incident that turned a local sports bar into the scene of a disturbing event.
