A Corpus Christi man, identified as Thomas Bucciarelli, aged 40, has been handed a 46-month sentence by a federal court situated in Del Rio. The sentence comes as a resolution for his involvement in conspiracy to transport undocumented noncitizens, an act that the court found to have placed lives in peril, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Chased by law enforcement on Aug. 20, 2022, in Carrizo Springs, Bucciarelli sped through traffic lights, ramming into another vehicle's driver’s side, which was a stop set at an intersection. Found in a parking lot was Bucciarelli’s vehicle, where inside Border Patrol agents discovered four passengers, later identified as undocumented noncitizens, according to court records shared by the U.S. Attorney's Office. Bucciarelli apprehended, conveyed his guilt on one count back on February 6, 2023.
The announcement of the sentencing was made by U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza of the Western District of Texas. The U.S. Border Patrol's investigation led to Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Markovits' taking charge of the prosecution.
