A serious collision on Columbia Parkway involving a motorcycle and a Ford Taurus resulted in critical injuries to a motorcyclist yesterday, as reported by FOX19. The crash occurred near Martin Drive, and emergency responders were called to the scene just before 5 p.m.
According to Cincinnati police, a 45-year-old man driving the Ford eastbound made an unsafe turn. He collided with the Harley Davidson motorcycle, which was also navigating eastbound, causing life-threatening injuries to the 47-year-old man operating the bike and non-life-threatening injuries to his 45-year-old female passenger, as detailed by WCPO. The motorcycle pair were transported to UC Medical Center for treatment, and it was noted they were not wearing helmets at the time of the incident.
The driver of the Taurus and the two passengers accompanying him were unharmed during the event. WLWT reports that Cincinnati police are now probing the possibility of impaired driving as a contributing factor in the mishap against the background of a bustling night in the city, with events including a Reds game, a Luke Combs concert, and Goettafest attracting crowds.
Traffic on Columbia Parkway was significantly impacted by the crash, with all lanes shut down to accommodate the investigation. Despite the influx of vehicles due to multiple concurrently held local events, police are working to determine whether the Taurus driver's maneuver constituted driving under the influence as they delve further into the circumstances that led up to the tragic collision, according to statements obtained by FOX19.
