Motorists in Otsego can once again travel along a stretch of CSAH 36, which had been shuttered following a slope failure that put its structural integrity in doubt. This key segment runs between Quilley Avenue NE and Rachele Ave. NE was previously closed off due to concerns for public safety after part of the road gave way on July 12. As of Wednesday afternoon, the Wright County Highway Department has announced that the road has been reopened to thru traffic, as detailed by Wright County Minnesota.
The reopening comes as a relief to local commuters, although it should be noted that this is a temporary measure. Efforts to permanently secure the road's future are still on the horizon. The Highway Department aims to slowly continue making improvements. According to Wright County Minnesota, "there will be work done sporadically in the coming weeks to get soil borings to help determine a long-term fix at a future date."
For those relying on CSAH 36 for their daily travels, the updates suggest a return to normalcy with an eye toward lasting stability. The County assures that the safety of motorists remains a priority. "The road will remain open during this process," they assert, as stated by Wright County Minnesota.
