
A cyclist sustained serious injuries after a collision with an RTD train yesterday morning in Aurora. The incident, as reported by 9News, transpired near Smith Road and Sable Boulevard and was first announced by the Aurora Police via social media at approximately 9:12 a.m. According to the police statement, the individual on the bicycle maneuvered around railroad crossing arms, which were in the down position, and was subsequently hit by the train.
The Denver Post detailed that the collision prompted the closure of all lanes at the intersection but no additional injuries were reported aside from those sustained by the cyclist. Following the accident, the cyclist was transported to a hospital for treatment of their serious injuries.
In response to the events, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) confirmed disruptions to their A Line service. Shuttle buses were quickly organized to ferry passengers between Central Park Station, Peoria Station, and the 40th / Airport - Gateway Park Station.
