A grim discovery in the early hours of Aug. 14 in the drive-thru of a Denver Wendy's has now escalated into a search for a hit-and-run driver. According to 9News, a man was found with severe injuries after being run over and later succumbed to those injuries. The incident, which took place at the Wendy's located at 857 E. Colfax Ave., is being treated as a deadly hit-and-run crash by Denver Police.
Despite the thorough investigations, no description of the vehicle or the individual responsible was available at the scene by police, where the victim was found between Clarkson and Emerson streets. Confirming the fatality, the Denver Police are now urging anyone with information to come forward. They are hoping that witnesses or surveillance footage might shed light on the identity of the negligent driver who remained at large, as reported by The Denver Gazette.
The severity of the situation was further underscored as the same pedestrian was reported to have been rushed to a local hospital suffering serious injuries following the incident. He was later pronounced dead, adding to a disturbing tally of pedestrian fatalities in the area. The identity of the victim has not been released pending family notification, as per KDVR.
The Denver community has been rattled by this event, hospital witness reports suggest the victim was alone during the incident, and now the police are calling on the driver responsible to come forward. In the wake of this tragedy, residents are reminded of the fragility of life and the consequences of reckless actions behind the wheel. With the investigation ongoing, the department has asked anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact the Denver Police Department.
