The Boston Police Department (BPD) hosted a Summer Series Field Day at Ronan Park in Dorchester, offering a day packed with activities, from soccer to kickball to basketball, engaging local youth in a spirited display of community interaction. Officers from various units, including District C-11, the Bureau of Community Engagement, Bicycle Unit, School Engagement Unit, and the Cadets, along with academy Recruit Class 64-24, converged upon the park to join in the fun.
The event's pinnacle was a water balloon showdown, providing both kids and officers with a playful reprieve and some cooling relief. According to a statement obtained by the Boston Police Department, "The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the water balloon showdown, where both kids and officers enjoyed some friendly competition and a much-needed cool-down in the summer heat."
The BPD Ice Cream Truck, supported by HP Hood and the Boston Police Foundation, made a special appearance and served sweet treats to participants. It was a hit, helping everyone stay cool during the day's festivities.
A key aspect of events like this is involvement with local partners and stakeholders. The BPD remains committed to community outreach, encouraging anyone interested in participating in future neighborhood events to contact their District Community Service Office. The department extended a big thank you to all local partners involved in making the event a success and iterated on the importance of such initiatives in building bridges within the community.
