Tragedy struck in the Point Loma neighborhood as San Diego police reported a shooting that claimed two lives and left one elderly woman hospitalized. According to the San Diego government website, the violent episode unfolded on the 3600 block of Zola St., where three gunshot victims were discovered yesterday afternoon, with two pronounced dead at the scene and the third victim in stable condition after receiving medical treatment.
The deceased has yet to be formally identified but appears to be a white woman in her 60s and a white man in his 30s, while the injured third party is an elderly white woman, said to be in her 80s. She had managed to emerge onto the street as authorities arrived and subsequently received immediate medical assistance from officers and was later transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
In the same announcement, details emerged of a 60-year-old white male taken into custody at the residence where the shooting occurred with a shotgun being found near him, police indicated there was not believed to be any other suspects involved in the incident. Investigations by the SDPD's Homicide Unit are ongoing, trying to unravel the precise events that led to this family-related tragedy, as initial reports suggest the detained suspect is the son of the surviving victim. They both resided together at the house where the incident took place.
