Recent efforts by the Downtown Public Safety Center (DPSC) officers to ramp up patrols in the Central Business District have produced a slate of statistics reflective of increased enforcement activities. For the week spanning August 5 through August 11, officers conducted operations that led to 19 arrests, the issuance of 32 non-traffic citations, and the towing of two vehicles, among other actions, as reported by the City of Pittsburgh Media Blotter.
Units handling Violence Prevention and Narcotics made five arrests. K9 units alongside Traffic officers, who are traditionally vigilant for violations, have instead focused on non-traffic related interventions, handing out zero non-traffic citations. However, they were particularly vigilant when it came to parking, writing up 77 citations, and ordering 10 vehicle tows.
All of these statistics are public and can be verified on the city's official website for those who wish to closely follow the DPSC's activities and their impact on downtown's daily flow.
