The incident unfolded when a 26-year-old man driving a 2020 Toyota 86 eastbound failed to navigate a curve and veered into the opposing lane, colliding with a 2012 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 52-year-old male. The younger driver sustained fractures to his legs, pelvic area, and left arm as a result of the impact. The 4Runner driver and a passenger both endured significant injuries, including fractured spines and other serious trauma. Another passenger sustained fractured ribs and internal bleeding, according to the SDPD Traffic Division's report. Drug impairment on the part of the Toyota 86 driver was identified as a factor in the collision.
