Heads up, Duluth trail enthusiasts: It's time to lace up your detour-friendly walking shoes. As of August 12, parts of your beloved Lakewalk trail will be intermittently off-limits, according to an announcement by the City of Duluth. But don't worry, this isn't some arbitrary exercise in inconvenience. The closures are part of a groundwork operation that's as dry as it sounds: soil borings and rock coring.
The nitty-gritty of it is, folks, that portions of the trail between Gitchi-Ode’ Aking (I know, what a mouthful) and the Rose Garden will be closed on weekdays from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, as per the City of Duluth. This temporary disruption is scheduled to plague our pedestrian pleasures for about two weeks, carved into four-day stints for each phase of the work – because someone thinks chopping up the misery makes it more palatable.
In a statement made by the City of Duluth, they "thanks residents and visitors for their patience while this important work is completed."
