Yesterday at around midnight, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of State Street following reports of a shooting, according to a press release by the local police. Upon arrival, they learned a man had been shot, and the alleged shooter was believed to be nearby. Fairfield Fire Department personnel quickly provided medical treatment and dispatched the victim to a local hospital. Despite being in critical condition, the victim is expected to survive. The name of the victim has not been released. He is, however, clinging to life.
In a coordinated effort to locate the suspect, the California Highway Patrol's (CHP) aerial unit spotted an individual matching the description of the shooter. This man was seen entering a trailer on the property. With the understanding that the individual was potentially armed, Fairfield's SWAT team was called to the scene, and a perimeter was established to ensure the safety of the surrounding community.
The suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Kristopher Johnson, heeded commands to exit the trailer and was apprehended without further incident. The swift conclusion of the situation was thanks in no small part to the assistance the California Highway Patrol provided. In a statement, Fairfield Police expressed their gratitude to CHP for their aid in bringing the incident to a close.
As the investigation proceeds under the care of police detectives, the Fairfield Police Department has not released further details regarding the case. However, they maintain that the investigation is active and ongoing.
