On Tuesday morning, four students from Grange Middle School in Fairfield experienced a terrifying encounter on their way to school. A man identified as Ronnie Grisham, 51, allegedly threatened the children, stating he would open fire on them. The students quickly reported the incident to Officer Lawrence, the School Resource Officer, at approximately 9:18 a.m. The Fairfield Police Department responded immediately, with Officer Lawrence spotting Grisham in the described vehicle and clothing near the school.
Fairfield Police swiftly apprehended Grisham, taking him into custody. He now faces four counts of making terrorist threats and one count of resisting or obstructing a peace officer. The incident highlights the police department's firm stance on protecting the community's youth and ensuring their safety in the face of potential dangers.
In response, the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, in collaboration with local law enforcement, reiterated the importance of safety protocols to parents and guardians. They emphasized the need for vigilance, encouraging children to stay alert, use the buddy system, and report any concerns to trusted adults or school staff. The students' quick thinking and adherence to these guidelines played a crucial role in resolving what could have been a much more tragic situation.
