A bold shoplifting attempt at Dick's Sporting Goods in Fairfield was thwarted on Tuesday by a quick response from the Fairfield Police Department. As reported by the Fairfield Police Department, two suspects, 25-year-old Anthony Bowie and 20-year-old DeMiracle Card from the East Bay, attempted to steal $1,700 worth of sports gear by nonchalantly wheeling out a shopping cart full of merchandise.

Not more than five minutes after the heist began, police arrived on the scene, arresting the duo as they stepped outside the store, the items having been carefully chosen but not so carefully concealed. The officers also discovered, upon investigation, another $1,400 in merchandise from a prior theft at Dick's Sporting Goods in Pleasanton, stashed in their not-so-cunningly hidden getaway car.

Both suspects were subsequently transported to the Solano County Jail.
