
An early morning crash on Interstate 17 in Phoenix claimed the life of a driver when their vehicle struck a median barrier at high speed. The incident, which occurred around 3 a.m. at the Bethany Home Road stretch of the southbound lane, led to temporary roadway closures as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
Initial assessments suggested the involvement of three cars, however, an X post by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed the tragedy to be a single-vehicle accident. According to Arizona's Family, the freeway was shut to quickly attend to and properly investigate the crash site. Motorists were diverted to the exit at Bethany Home Road and the southbound Bethany Home on-ramp was also closed.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) noted on their X post that the accident had caused the southbound lanes of I-17 to be closed, however, by approximately 5:45 a.m., the lanes were re-opened to ensure the normal flow of the day's early commute.
