Five individuals are facing significant prison time following a smash-and-grab robbery at a Manhattan Beach jewelry store earlier this year. According to a statement by the Manhattan Beach Police Department on Instagram, the group was involved in the theft at Pasha Fine Jewelry, which took place on March 22, where they were reported to have used hammers to smash open display cases and flee with stolen merchandise.
The Manhattan Beach Police Department revealed that seven people, including five adults and two juveniles, were apprehended following the heist. Through a plea deal accepted last Friday, the five adults will serve between three and 16 years in state prison, and "receive a strike for their part in the robbery," as detailed in the police department's Instagram post. Twuan Walker, 20, of Lancaster; Alan Daniels, 25, and Eworth Sutherland, 24, both of Los Angeles, along with Johndean Blocker, 24, and Jamil Edwards, 25, also from Los Angeles, were identified as the adult offenders.
Authorities managed to recover some of the jewelry and two handguns that were related to the incident. The swift response by patrol officers and detectives to the crime scene on Manhattan Beach Boulevard was pivotal in these recoveries and the subsequent arrests. According to a report by KTLA, the suspects had entered the store armed with what appeared to be handguns and hammers, before escaping in vehicles waiting in a nearby alley.
The cases concerning the two juveniles, both aged 17, were previously resolved through the juvenile court system. Specific details regarding their adjudication have not been made public. This heist is a part of a troubling trend of smash-and-grab robberies targeting retail and luxury goods stores in the region.
