
A shooting near Powers Catholic High School in Flint on Wednesday morning led to the school being placed in a lockdown. Flint Police have since arrested a suspect connected to the event, which is now being characterized as a domestic incident; officials have the individual in custody, as conveyed by Mid-Michigan NOW.
In a brief overview of the events, Flint Police responded to a domestic shooting just across from the school premises at around 10 a.m. and the Powers Catholic High School swiftly went into secure mode, according to Flint Police Chief Terence Green, the shooter, a teenager, allegedly shot his father who is now critically injured—the suspect was reported to have been sporting a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and had short braided hair at the time of the incident, Green detailed this in a statement obtained by abc12.
Authorities were initially in pursuit of the suspect described as armed and dangerous, and Flint Detective Tyrone Booth emphasized the urgency of the ongoing investigation, a detail shared by mlive; residents were warned to exercise caution and to immediately contact law enforcement should they encounter the suspect, however, the Flint police successfully apprehended the suspect later in the day, as noted in authorities' communications.
