Motorists in the north central Pennsylvania region are facing a series of road closures and detours as the area grapples with the aftermath of flooding and downed trees. According to PennDOT, Lycoming County in particular is experiencing long-term disruptions with several key routes being off-limits for the foreseeable future.
In Lycoming County, Route 14 from the ramp to Route 15 all the way to Trout Run Mountain Road is closed for an extended period, requiring a detour to be put in place. Drivers will need to reroute their journey to use Trout Run Mountain Road, Lycoming Creek Road, and Beautys Run Road. A similar situation unfurls on Little Pine Creek Road between Route 287 and Little Pine State Park where an alternative path has been set up via Route 287, Route 973, and Route 44.
Meanwhile, driving through Tioga County has also grown to be a challenge. PennDOT confirms that while Phoenix Road has reopened, travelers will still need to take the long way around on several other roads. Canada Road, for example, is shuttered between Cherry Flats Road and West Hill Road, with Old State Road and Williamson Road serving as the detour route.
At the same time, Wattles Run Road remains inoperative at the bridge in Clymer Township. Those planning to pass through will have to temporarily adapt to using Route 49 and Route 349 instead. Lastly, North Road's closure is forcing traffic between Route 249 and California Road to take a significant detour through Route 249, Austinburg Road, and back onto Route 49.
For the most current traffic information, updates can regularly be sought from the PennDOT website.
