Sarah Boone's ordeal with the court system continues as the Florida woman, accused of second-degree murder for the death of her boyfriend found in a suitcase, has now secured her ninth attorney. Boone, who has seen a revolving door of legal counsel since her 2020 arrest, is now represented by James Owens of James Owens Attorney at Law. This development follows Boone's initial forfeiture of her right to a court-appointed attorney, as reported by ClickOrlando.

Notably, Boone’s previous attorneys distanced themselves due to behavior deemed antagonistic and hostile. One even described "irreconcilable differences” as the cornerstone of the withdrawal, as ClickOrlando reports. In an attempt to delay the approaching October 7 trial, Boone’s new attorney Owens, who has met with her four times in jail between August 20 and 27, filed a motion for a continuance on Friday. This plea suggests that more time is required to sufficiently prepare for the defense.

Amidst this backdrop, Boone attempted to take matters into her own hands by representing herself for a short period. This was after a judge had decreed in July that her high turnover of attorneys had resulted in forfeiture of her right to state-provided legal aid. According to WESH, Boone later advertised for private representation in a flier that read, "Looking for a prosperous challenge? Ready for your close-up on nat'l television? Are you zealous with a side of keen," – a bid that seemingly led to Owens taking the case.
