Maxwell Sidney Fletcher, a former North Carolina soccer coach with prior charges of sexual assault against a minor, is now facing additional charges, this time involving an adult, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. As reported by QCNews, the 30-year-old former teacher and coach from Mount Holly was arrested after an investigation into the allegations. He had held positions at W.C. Friday Middle School in the Gaston County School system and had been an assistant coach for East Lincoln High School's men's soccer team.

Following Fletcher's initial arrest on May 17 in South Carolina, he was extradited and faced outstanding warrants from Catawba County for second-degree kidnapping and indecent liberties. The new charges, involving a felony crime against nature and a felony second-degree forcible sex offense, came as a result of a completed investigation on July 31, leading to Fletcher’s subsequent arrest. He has since been released from custody, as he was not listed as an inmate on August 9, details WHKY report.

The plea agreement for a seven-year prison term dropped 26 of the charges against another coach in a separate case in Middlesex County. During sentencing, Middlesex County prosecutor Thomas Carver criticized the defendant's attempts to deflect guilt, stating, "Every opportunity the defendant had to shift the blame to someone else, he has done so," as NJ.com reports.

The ongoing situation with Fletcher has led to a call for information from the public. The investigation continues, and authorities encourage anyone with information to come forward. As of now, no new court dates have been listed. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Unit can be reached with any tips at 855-455-6762 or 704-732-9050.
