Fort Worth's housing market is undergoing a revamp, courtesy of Anchored Tiny Homes, a franchise specializing in accessory dwelling units (ADUs), commonly known as tiny homes or granny flats. This family-owned business has expanded into a national presence and touts being the nation's fastest-growing on-site ADU builder. Their mission, as stated on their website, is to mitigate the national housing crisis with constructions that integrate neatly into existing properties, as per Anchored Tiny Homes.

ADUs are becoming increasingly popular as an affordable housing solution amid the surging prices of real estate and living costs. The Dallas Express spoke to Matt Goodwin, the owner of Anchored Tiny Homes – Fort Worth, which spans an operating area of 10 territories. Goodwin elucidated "We build slab-on-grade and stick-built tiny homes. We don’t do mobile or modular homes. Our homes are actual tiny houses that will appreciate in value, are easier to get financed, and will stand the test of time".

Distinguishing themselves from the stereotypical image of tiny homes, Anchored Tiny Homes' models feature full kitchens with full-sized appliances and complete bathrooms. According to the same interview with The Dallas Express, Goodwin emphasized, "It’s a full kitchen with full-sized appliances, a full bath … it’s a real tiny house". Their offerings range from a 284-square-foot studio to an 1100-square-foot two-bedroom, two-bath dwelling, with the possibility of customization in size and added features like lofts and garages.

The tailored approach also extends to the clientele they serve, with about 75% of their customers being families seeking to support each other. "[About] 75% of our clients are what we call 'family helping family,' primarily that it an aging parent who can’t afford the retirement facility, doesn’t feel comfortable, or can’t quite live on their own fully", Goodwin explained in his communication with The Dallas Express. The company's designs cater to such familial needs, helping maintain autonomy and peace of mind for all involved. The remainder of their business comes from those seeking rental or investment opportunities in tiny homes.

Anchored Tiny Homes prides itself on using high-quality materials and skilled craftsmanship. For those interested, their services begin around $70,000, though costs vary depending on the client’s choice of finishes and fixtures. "When we quote prices for our units, they come with upper mid-level finishes and fixtures… with pricing starting around $70,000, but if you want more basic finishes, the cost would be lower," Goodwin detailed to The Dallas Express. Anchored Tiny Homes promises a streamlined ADU process from design through construction, ensuring a tailored experience for each homeowner.
