A Georgia man received a sentence of five years in prison after a federal court conviction in Del Rio for receipt of child pornography. Jacob Adam Waldroup, a 32-year old from LaGrange, Ga., will also face ten years of supervised release following his incarceration.
Communicating with a 14-year-old female through an online instant messaging program between April 1 and June 15, 2020, Waldroup's exchanges were fraught with explicit sexual content, according to court documents. Despite her repeatedly reminding him of her youth, Waldroup pressed the minor to engage in sexual acts, send sexually explicit photos of herself, and shipped the child victim three videos that included child pornography.
The investigation, resulting from Homeland Security Investigations and the Del Rio Police Department's collaborative efforts, led to Waldroup's arrest on October 14, 2020. Subsequent to his arrest, he entered a guilty plea on May 11, 2022, according to a press release by The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Texas.
This case falls under the umbrella of Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative started in May 2006. U.S. Attorneys' Offices, along with CEOS, have marshaled their collective resources to locate and prosecute individuals exploiting children on the Internet and, all the same important, to rescue victims. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rex Beasley, Ben Tonkin, and Katy Garner were credited for their invaluable assistance in prosecuting the case.
