
A serious rollover crash in Grand Haven Township yesterday morning resulted in significant injuries for a local woman, as reported by various sources. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to WZZM 13 that deputies responded to the scene at Lincoln Street and Mariposa Street around 9:25 a.m., where a 2023 VW Taos had veered off the road and rolled multiple times.
According to details provided by the sheriff's office and shared by WOODTV, the 34-year-old driver from Grand Haven was pinned inside her vehicle until rescue crews from Grand Haven Township Fire and Rescue could free her, she was subsequently hospitalized in serious condition the deputies reported that she had not been wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The incident caused the temporary closure of the westbound lane of Lincoln Street to facilitate cleanup efforts, which has since been reopened. WHTC further reported that the single motorist was extricated from the SUV by rescue workers after it had flipped over several times and came to a standstill.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong, who did not initially disclose the name of the injured woman, emphasized that the circumstances leading up to the vehicle's sharp veering and subsequent crash are still under active investigation, according to what he told WHTC. With the investigation ongoing, updates are expected as authorities seek to understand the factors contributing to this alarming roadway incident.
