
A horrific street racing incident in Grand Prairie took a heavy toll on the Rosales family from Garland, claiming the lives of four family members while their teenage son remains hospitalized but is reportedly improving. As detailed by FOX4 News, 16-year-old Anthony Rosales who was critically injured in the crash, is now breathing on his own after being taken off a ventilator.
The tragedy unfolded when two drivers in Dodge Chargers were caught racing at speeds reportedly exceeding 100 miles per hour. The collision with the Rosales family's SUV was catastrophic, instantly killing Jesse and Lorena Rosales along, with their 13-year-old daughter Stephanie, and 6-year-old son Angel. Witnesses to the events were left traumatized by the incident, with one bystander, as CBS News reported, Yvette Acosta recalling, "It sounded like a bomb exploded" upon witnessing the high-speed crash, which ended in a fiery wreckage.
Grand Prairie police have apprehended both suspects involved in the illegal race. Anthony Morales, aged 22, was caught after attempting to flee the scene; Jaime Mesa, aged 20, is also facing charges but is currently hospitalized. Both individuals are facing multiple charges, including manslaughter and aggravated assault as the community reels from this profound loss. Her testimony of daily races comes with a plea for action to prevent future tragedies. This sentiment is echoed by Elisa Arguello, who heard the crash's aftermath from her garden and expressed her heartbreak over the event, saying, as per CBS News, "My daughter is 14 and one of the girls that died is 13 so, yeah it could be her, it could be anyone."
