An unsettling discovery has shaken the Katy community as Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies uncovered signs of a heinous crime at a residence on Wells Station Court this past Wednesday. According to the Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez post on X, although there was no body found at the scene, evidence of foul play immediately raised alarm, suggesting that the victim may have been killed and later removed.
On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, Pct 5 deputies were notified of a possible homicide occurring at a home located at the 2500 blk of Wells Stanton Court.

The ongoing investigation led by the HCSOTexas Homicide and Crime Scene Investigations units, the initial evidence propelled a grim search that culminated in Vidor, Texas—over eighty miles away from the original Katy home, wherein the deceased body of Kelvin Hinton, 53, was located; this happening in a rather nondescript area along the 1000 block of Old Hwy 90, W. Vidor, Texas, which seems unequipped to bear the weight of such tragedy.
A prime suspect has since emerged in the case: Maurice Mack, identified as the only suspect, is now wanted on a Capital Murder warrant. Mack, born June 24, 1976, has eluded capture, prompting law enforcement to solicit public assistance for any information leading to his whereabouts. Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge concerning the incident or Mack's location to reach out to local law enforcement, the Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100, or tipsters can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
