
In a significant crackdown on vehicle-related crime, the Harris County Sheriff's Office Auto Theft Unit, following up on an anonymous lead, has dismantled a chop shop operation in North Harris County. On August 8, a search warrant led officers to the 5300 block of Lanibeth St, where they uncovered an illegal operation dismantling stolen cars, the operation not only involved the dismantling of vehicles but the unlawful possession of a firearm was also brought to light, as announced on their official X page.

During the raid, law enforcement recovered an assortment of stolen goods this includes four cars, two engines with transmissions, and a handgun, collectively valued at an estimated $300,000, making a substantial dent in illegal trade networks that feed off the ill-gotten gains of vehicular theft. Despite the array of equipment and vehicles found, the criminal hands behind this operation remain at large, but the county's investigators are unyielding in their pursuit.
