Houston Police are currently unraveling the circumstances behind the somber incident that led to a man's death on North Freeway early Saturday morning. A crash involving a white Toyota Corolla and the unidentified 60-year-old victim took place around 12:50 a.m. according to details provided by the Houston police on their official news website. The identity of the man is still being withheld pending formal verification.
The driver of the Toyota, whose actions inadvertently resulted in a tragic conclusion, was navigating the freeway when he came across a man lying on the road. In his attempt to avoid the pedestrian, the collision was unfortunately unavoidable. Houston Fire Department paramedics declared the man deceased at the scene. Initial findings by the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, led by Sergeant J. Richards and Officer J. Best, suggest the possibility that the man had been hit by another vehicle before this fatality-ensuring event.
In their ongoing investigation, authorities have determined that the driver of the Corolla was not impaired during the incident, and after questioning, he was released. Houston Police urge anyone with information to come forward.
